Create Baby Shower Invitations
To Create Baby Shower Invitations is an extremely satisfying experience. These events are loaded with emotions. Even the hostess when planning the party feels sentimental about the fact that her best friend is about to become a mom and possibly she herself a godmother!
However, as pleasing as the whole idea is, throwing a
babyshower can become pretty expensive. To keep the expenses low here are some DIY card ideas that will also make the entire planning more fun.
DIY Cards: Printing Potatoes
Materials:
- 1 potato
- 1 knife
- Card paper in the color of your choice to Create Baby Shower Invitations
- 2-3 different colored paints – choose the colors according to your theme or those that will complement the color of the paper.
- Black marker
Instructions:
- Cut the potato into two equal halves.
- On the exposed flat side of the potato, outline the motif that you want to use to Create Baby Shower Invitations. You could choose generic baby motifs like a pram, baby bottle or bootie. Optionally, you could choose theme related motifs like stars for a sweet dreams theme, a fairy wand for a Disney theme or a butterfly for a garden party theme.
- Using the knife carve out the motif and pare off the surrounding potato so that you create a stamp. The raised part will be dipped into paint and used as a rubber stamp. This raised part should be your motif. The areas, which you don’t want imprinted, should be pared off by at least .25 inches. Tip: The simpler the outline of the motif the easier the carving will be.
- Once you have created the motif keep the potato aside. You can create as many different motifs as you want to use for your baby invitations with similar potato halves. One potato will yield two motifs.
- Cut out the card stock in the size of the cards that you want. A 4” x 6” size generally works well.
- Dip the potato motif in the paint and print it on the front side of the card.
- Make a box / window around the motif using the black marker and Voila! Your invites are ready.
- Write out all the party details on the inside of the cards.
Variations to Create Baby Shower Invitations:
- If you plan to use a poem when you Create Baby Shower Invitations then you can make a smaller motif and use it to make a border. Then write out the poem in the front center of the cards.
- Another option is to make one big motif and one small motif. Print the larger motif in the center with a window. Use the smaller motifs to randomly print around the larger one and on the inside of the cards.
- You can even cut out the card stock in the shape of your choice. Some people like to cut out a pram shape or a baby bottle shaped card and then print some motifs on it.
