Serving a Baby Shower Punch is practically a given for any parties held in the summer months. Since the mother-to-be cannot be drinking alcohol it automatically follows that an alternate is required. This is the best option. Everyone enjoys a cool cup of tasty punch on a hot, summer day. Also, recipes allow you to ‘customize’ the drink to go with any theme that you are having.
Here are some great recipes as well as ideas for serving the refreshment.
Recipe 1: Lemon and Grape Punch Recipe
Ingredients: 1 liter soda or sprite, 4 lemons, a bowl of sweet grapes, 2 teaspoons sugar
Method: Puree the grapes and strain them to get a smooth grape juice. Add the soda, grape juice, lemon juice and sugar and mix well. Tastes delicious – slightly sweet and slightly tangy and has a lovely lilac color. The lemon ensures that the mother-to-be won’t suffer any nausea when drinking the refreshment.
Variations: Instead of grapes use strawberries for a lovely pink color, mangoes for an orange tinge and blue berries for a blue color. Watermelon works well for a pink tinge too.
Recipe 2: Mint refresher
Ingredients: 1 cup mint leaves, 4 lemons, 1 cup sugar syrup or honey, 2 gallons iced water
Method: Wash the mint leaves extremely well. Put into a blender. Add the lemon juice and the sugar or honey and blend till the mint leaves are completely minced. Add this to two gallons of water and stir well. Serve chilled with a few mint leaves as garnish.
Method: Thaw the strawberries. Put the strawberries and the sherbet in the punch bowl. When your guests start to arrive pour the ginger ale for a sinfully delicious strawberry delight.
Variations: You can use any flavor of sherbet that you like. Just ensure that you taste your creative Baby Shower Punch before serving it to a roomful of thirsty women.
Ideas to perk up the Baby Shower Punch:
Get ice trays with cute baby shape molds. Freeze ice and add to the punch just before serving. The little baby shaped ice cubes look really cute. You could also buy molds to go with your theme if you are having one. Round ice cubes for a polka dot theme, star shapes for a nursery rhyme theme or a fairy theme and so on.
Add a few dollops of ice cream in the bowl before serving. Looks great as the ice cream melts and makes lovely swirls on the surface. The taste isn’t bad either!
Pour the Baby Shower Punch into a large tub and float a few yellow rubber duckies in it. Very cute and right with the party mood. You can also gift the tub and duckies to the mother-to-be after the party.
